Hi Everyone
Well, we have at long last made it to the world down under!! After saying our emotional goodbyes to you all and our families we had a good flight to Singapore. It was very hot and sticky but we did see some of the sights including a night safari and going to Sentosa Island. We went there by Cable Car which was 80 metres high and we then saw pink dolphins (I didn't know you could get pink ones!!) doing a show. The kids thought it was fantastic - and the parents! In the evening we saw a light show at sea which again was something you had to see to appreciate.
We then flew to Sydney on Thursday, arriving after a 7 hour flight and instantly felt very cold because it was raining - we thought we had left England behind!!!!!!!!
Anyway, after spending a night in a Hotel there, we then made our way to Brisbane - all 600 miles, we did stop on route and stayed in a 2 bedroom, ensuite Beach Shack. We weren't sure what to expect but it was very nice and also right on a beautiful sandy beach. Eventually we arrived in Brisbane on the Friday afternoon - again going through another time Zone. In all we have gone through 3 different time zones - I don't think my body knows if it is coming all going!!!!
The house we are staying is in typical Ozzie style-hugh and finished to a very high standard and it is situated North of Brisbane. We have spent today trying to catch up and we have already heard from a lot of family and friends which has been great. Went to a local hypermarket which is broadly similar to the Uk-they even have a space for UK foods!!! Also, petrol is only 60p a litre-CHEAP!!!!!!!!
We have already seen some of the local wildlife, on they way up to Brisbane we stopped for our lunch by a river bank and whilst there a big group of Iguanas came out to sun themselves -WOW!! Also, we have seen one of the most poisonous spiders in our Garage - Red Back. Needless to say William and Ian were in their element in inspecting it- I kept well our of the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, that has bought you all up to date with our Journey, love to hear from any of you, if you wish to speak to us we have a telephone no +61 731 033 232 which will be charged to you, at your local rate. Also, we are using skype which you can download (our skype name is thepolfs) and if you have a webcam we can also see you!
Any way take care, catch up soon
Love Heather (and family)
